Was it an Accident?

After incidents on Lakme India Fasion Week 2006 with wardrobe malfunction on more than one occasion there has been more than anticipated interest in this years fashion event. What more our good ol' politicians have taken a break from usual leg pulling and have set their guns on the recent (il)events at the show. Again our media has done it, what it does the best, blowing things out of proportions.
I feel sorry for the poor models what happened and commend the way they handled esp Carol Garcias. However i still cannot digest politicians taking interest in fashion....man India is Shining. On a serious note this again points to the moral policing our politicians like to do...they just can sit quite and shut up....no they want a probe..Probe? what for? well if at all we need probes is for corruption? why ppl are so poor? why infra is poor? etc. etc. but who cares for that.
All they care is for baning TV channels, spread hatred among the public etc. etc.

new channels these days are worth some good ridicule. I totally missed this incident, though read in the papers. Yesterday watched star news or a news channel after a long time. The story was 'sourav ganguly ka career khatam'! I was shocked, caused a huge banner stating breaking news was flickerring in between. I though Ganguly died or something. And was feeling sad, and stayed on. Staying on I discovered they were doing a story on their own that is Ganguly out forever?, with some unwanted analysis and probably unoccured behind the room scenes. Why an analysis propped up by them was being reffered as breakng news just beat me. Ofcourse it worked for them. Because they made a fool out of me and I hanged around to watched the channel.

I have heard that this incident has become more sensational online than in main stream media.

I didn't even know about this until I read this malfunction thing in TOI. The serious newspapers didn't even carry it even.

There are two questions - was it an accident ? My answer is how does it matter. It is their fashion week so let it do whatever they want to do.

Second is about politicians- as I wrote on Raj's blog, we all are unanimous in this that they got better things to do. They should go and find out why World Bank stopped the 1 billion aid for welfare program? What about the tapes and CDs release ocassionally showing the antics of these politicians. Or is it that they want to see the incident again and again in the name of probe?

Thirdly, I don't feel sorry for poor models or unnecessarily commend them. They are models, it is part of their professional hazard. When was the last time your boss commended you for fire figting in a crisis situation. This all commendationa and pitiness is contributing in making this event sensational. Let it be the way it should be. Next you might want to make a durga statue have Carol's face ?

@greensatya:

//When was the last time your boss commended you

But we are not her bosses, are we?

So according to you, nobody should be praised then for doing anything bcos they're just doing her job. Had u been working in the public eye, maybe your firefighting skills would have been applauded too.

//Next you might want to make a durga statue have Carol's face ?

Where did that stem from? Is it a joke? In that case, I guess I should start counting all the people I ever commended in my life. Hmm, so many statues waiting to be made.

hi...i read only ET and very little of news...so i was never aware of it...but one thing...this moral policing must be stopped, who r these guys to say wat i have to do and not to do?

Raj - let me explain my previous comment.

Politicians love sensational news, obviously due to their media bandwidth potential. What I am saying is that something happened in a Fashion show so let it be like that. Why to make it sensational and give it more hue and cry saying some model did a good job by maintaining her poise. To me it is the part of the job. It is a professional hazard.

If we ask the politicians not to rake up this matter, the onus also lies on us not to make this an unnecessary sensation.

We are not her boss, but that was analogy. Your work is assessed by your boss and may be by other stake holders but the direct assessor is your boss. Same way audience are direct assessor of a model and hence the analogy.

The durga statue came from the unnecessary praise from Abhinav to Carol. Don't make her look like a God, she did JUST her job.

Let this news die its own death.
